A SHORT HISTORY
Tony Goetz started his career in 1962 as a diamond processor switching
later on to trading in diamonds. In 1984, in the middle of the diamond crisis, he founded Tony Goetz & Zonen with offices in the diamond district of Antwerp. Its core activities included purchasing old gold and trading in gold.
A year later, Tony Goetz completed a training course as an “assayer” in Paris.
Shortly thereafter he set up a laboratory so that he could carry out analyses in-house; very soon after this he built a forge with a refinery for gold and silver.
In 1987 he made his very first direct purchases in Burundi (Africa); he grew this activity until 1993 when he actually built a factory in Bujumbura. This African factory was operational until 2001 and then had to close due to the social unrest in the Big Lakes region.
In the same year, Tony Goetz handed over the company in its entirety to his sons Alain and Sylvain. In 2002 they bought premises in Jacob Jacobsstraat, very close to the main railway station of Antwerp. All the activities were now united under one roof. In addition to new offices and counters, they also invested in new installations: a new forge with a production capacity of 60 tons of pure gold per year, a completely PLC-driven refining department with high-quality water and air purification installations, one of the most modern laboratories in the industry for analysing gold, silver, palladium, iridium ruthenium and rhodium. Purchasing, smelting and purifying metals are now carried
out in optimal conditions.
In 2009 the company name Tony Goetz & Zonen was changed to Tony Goetz. This new name is now a registered trade name. Today, Tony Goetz is synonymous around the world with professional and transparent service for the gold industry.
